NEVER GIVE UP
I want to talk about Stephen William Hawking who is a famous physicist and cosmologist.
He was born on 8 January in 1942. He saw interested in science. He was a social guy and he didn’t have to study all the time. He, most of the time, grasped the essential of the subjects. He graduated from Oxford in 1962 with a first class honor in physics. Then he started to study postgraduate in Cambridge University.
Cambridge had a great effect to his life. He started to study cosmology that he will focus on in the future. And there, he was diagnosed with a disease called ALS which affects motor neurons. As day passed he became unable to move, eat by himself, sit and speak. But he never gave up. He kept studying and made remarkable researches. He always thinks that there is someone who is in a worse condition than him.
After he got his doctrine degree in 1966, he began to make researches and teach, which has lasted till now. He made researches on black holes and found many things. He worked on Penrose and Einstein’s theories and he found that origin of our universe comes from a singularity. He made researches to prove big bang. In the 1980s Hawking answered one of Einstein's unanswered theories, the famous unified field theory.
He has written many books about his researches and theories. The books have been translated into many languages. His first book called A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes was sold over a million copies and was listed as the best selling nonfiction book. He became a fellow of the Royal Society of London in 1974 and five years later was named to a professorial chair at Cambridge University. By the end of the twentieth century Stephen Hawking became one of the best known scientists in the world. His popularity includes endorsing a wireless Internet connection and speaking to wheelchair bound youth. When asked about his objectives, Hawking told in an interview "My goal is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all."
