BLACK CAT(GÜNEY)

In this story, narrator has some problems. Both narrator and his wife love animals and

They have variety animals in their home. They especially love their cat of which name is

Pluto and cat follows  from behind them. This happiness finished when  narrator came to

Home as drunk. When he opened door Pluto came near him but narrator wanted to send

Away it so he beat the cat with his feet. Otherwise Pluto didn’t go away from him hence

Narrator who was drunk took his pocketknife and removed Pluto’s one eye.

            Narrator was getting worse obsession with black cats. Finally his odd behaviors took

His wife’s life. Allan Poe had described everything in a detailed way and he had used too

Complicated words in his story Black Cat. While I was reading this story I hardly understood

Because of his using complicated words many times.

 While some people believe in black cats bring bad chance others believe that they

Don’t. I think narrator chose to emphasize that topic in his short story. Owing to Pluto’s

Bad chance narrator killed his wife but maybe he accidentally killed his wife. It changes

According to persons viewpoint. Narrator too much loves his cat in the beginning of story

I think CRS Company personals tried to kill Nicholas .Because they didn’t improve

Nicholas’s life safe. He overcame many difficulties himself not with the help of the creators

Workers abandoned their office.

            The game was a present to Nicholas from his brother. His brother knew everything

About the game because he played the game many years ago and he won too much point

In this game. He thought his elder brother had everything that he wanted therefore he

Wanted to give Nicholas a different present. But the game changed into real. We can

Understand it from events which Nicholas had to overcome. He could die many times

For instance; He flew into sea with his car. If he didn’t take the tool which can open the

            The CRS Company wanted to take Nicholas’s money that he had won throughout his

ADVERTISEMENTS(GÜNEY)

We can see the advertisements in everywhere.We can hear them on the radio or look

up them with internet connection.When we go outside from home we can see again them

On billboards,sides of buses. If we go to a café or restaurant as soon as we sit in those places

We can see newspapers and magazines and they contain the advertisements.

I think advertisements affect people and promote them to buy the production or

something. But if they are  showed in everywhere they can bore the people and negatively

affect them.A brand company can spend millions dolar for an advertisement and people

who work in there want to see  some famous people in their advertisement.For instance;

Christiano Ronaldo who is a football player in a one of the most known teams played in a

Shampoo advertisement and he gained thousands of dollars from the company of shampoo.

            An advertisement company can choose a target rate as annually and its workers

Try to reach this rate throughout year. We help them by buying their production as

Consumers.If a person want to avoid from advertisements he/she must close his eyes,ears

Because he even doesn’t want to see them absolutely he will see in somewhere place.

Some people like helping other people to satisfy their conscience This people don’t

Want any good behaviour from person who is receiving help. They only perform this act

Because they want. There is no force from anybody to them. In our country there are some

Examples  of this.

            Türkan Saylan is a volunteer who likes helping poor, homeless, ill people especially

Students. She has a charity of which name is Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği and she

Gives scholarship to university students by this charity. Barış Manço also likes helping

Children who stay in dormitory .Contrary to some people do this for their advantage.

            Rich peoples helping poor people is relevant to government support and tax break. If

We look this situation globally we can say that in USA government promotes its citizens

Helping poor people and destroy poverty. Sometimes Government even get no tax from

Its citizens who help people so citizens prefer to help someone instead of paying tax. Every

Country should join the helping movement and do something for poverty, famine, global

 isation  not only in its region but all over the world.

While i was watching Angelas Ashes i was bored but i liked its theme.More movie

About how they can help disabled person.For example disabled person with wheelchair must

            There are various things which hazard to human life in İstanbul such as air pollution,

Traffic congestion,enviromental problems and crowded population.These have many effects

On people.For example;air pollution causes peoples easily catching  illness and their healthies

Traffic congestion increases peoples stress and steals their time on ways.

Sometimes people can wait too many hours in traffic and they will be late where they will go.

Traffic monsters can hazard to environment by using cars horn and they can have an accident

          ı think the benefits of nonconventional or alternative medicine are based on

ancient traditions.there werent enough drugs in ancient times so people who had

some illness  had to find natural  things which were different from conventional

medicine.

        

 nonconventional medicine was generally applied in villages by old men or

women.they used herbals for making natural drugs and their treatments were

resulted  positively.most people believed in them and they thought they had

magical skills.

        

today,conventional medicine is more common because most people dont

trust alternative medicine anymore.however ı think alternative medicine is more

 natural than the other because in alternative drugs only herbals are used

but in modern medicine drugs there are many chemical additional things.

        

as a result people should use herbal drugs more commonly.in future

maybe they will again  be seen as important healing  sources.

          THE DIFFERENT REMEDIES

Some scientific studies show that medicine can not completely treat the patients. So, they should try to find out new methods. Therefore, they may use the collection of different cultures called  ‘alternative medicine’ to help the patients. It usually works.  In addition, some remedies called alternative medicine will usually help the patients recover their illness and maket hem feel beter. They should be good and effective treatment  ways.

There are many ways to feel ourselves better with some treatments. For example, studies show that acupuncture, hypnotize, relaxing activities may be used for feeling or getting better. They came from Far Easten Countries. Plus, they are becoming common. What’s more, some herbal mixtures could be drunk to reduce the pain and to improve our health. In generally, herbal mixtures are used in South America and in some South Africa countries. Furthermore, we should do some exercises to keep fit and health. Some of them could be team sports or some of them could be an individual sports. Some sports were national and then they became union. Therefore, all the world know and do them. For example,  yoga is Chinese sport, but then it became union and also today it is used for physical treatment.

Consequently there are many effective ways to improve our bodies and healt by the help of the alternative medicine. Because, sometimes only medicine treatments don’t work.

           THE SAME EDUCATION IN THE WORLD

            The global circulated education anywhere in the world should be done for the students. Therefore, I agree with the global circulated education. If not, as being, we can have difficulty in understanding each other and it won’t be equal for anyone.

            First of all, we can have education anywhere in the world if we want. It won’t be difficult for students to have the education anyway. We understand the lessons given and have no trouble to learn anything. Hence, we will have the lessons in USA and England. The global term will be the same. Everyone learns the same topics. In this way it is easier to have an education for exchange students. The difference education system can occur to separates. Thanks to the same education system everyone learns the same things. Not better than Africa not worse than Japan. Everyone can have rights to follow the new methods and the new techniques, researches in the schools.

 In addition, the good teachers’ lessons can be watched by the students by the help of the videos and DVD’s or lives broadcasting.  All the new discoveries can be informed to the people at the same time.  The classmate activities can be showed to the inexperienced young teachers. The professional teachers tell their own stories to the people by sharing help the people understand sharing which helps the people understand their cultures. Moreover, the new global language can be appeared for example English or Spanish. 

            In consequently, I agree with the same education in the world. Everything will be better in this way for students. Everyone will be equal in the education.  As it is seen, we might have a lot of advantages if we have global educational system. So, these advantages help us improve our lives better and easier.

                            SKIING BECAME A DISASTER

            Everything was wonderful. We planned to have an exciting weekend with our friends in Himalaya. However, we all weren`t aware of the miserable things waiting us the next day. If we had known what was comming next, we wouldn`t have had so great expectations.

            The day went on as it was planned. We prepared everything especially our ski-equipment. We met immediately with our friends at the  same cafe as usually. We talked about things we have done the year before and had fun. Helen looked at her watch and warned us to get ready.The bus would arrive in 15 minutes. The conversation was so deep that we hadn`t realized  the time passing.

            Everybody was laughing and acting like primary school children. Meanwhile, I was looking out of the window and began to dream… The bright, blue sky was smiling to me, which symbolized to me that our holiday would be amazing. The mountains covered with snow captivated me. Suddenly a piece of paper awoke me. Jack asked me loudly: ” Won`t you join us? ”I refused to answer him and threw the piece of paper back and joined them.

            After we arrived at the hotel, we left our bags and went out with our equipment. The guide warned us to be in groups at least of four and to use the minumum voice while talking. We decided to walk to peak. The weather was cold and gloomy. It made us feel stranger. Promptly, Elizabeth heard the wolf`s noises and screamed. We heard the echo of her scream several times. The ground began to shake and I felt like everything was going to collapse. Intentionally we crouched down, but unfortunately Jack lost his balance and trundled. While we were trying to catch Jack, a horrible noise was coming closer to us. It seemed like the sky was shouting to us. The sliding and approaching of the snow took only a few seconds.

            When I opened my eyes, I felt something heavy on me. It was real dark but I was able to realize the snow laying over my body. As soon as I understood that it was an avalanche, I tried to stand up and find my friends immediately. I heard the voice of Helen`s crying. I told her to be quite lest there could be another avalanche. After calming her down, I looked around and the all the snow around us was smooth as if nothing had happened. We found the glove of Jack while looking for the others. We ran towards it and started to dig around the place the glove was laying. Actually he was laying there. I saw his hand, which was almost frozen. We got him out of there with hard work. As the guide told us before, we rubbed his body with snow. Slowly he regained consciousness, but he trembled. Helen stayed with him and I looked for Elizabeth. But there was no help, I couldn`t find her. So I called the emergency  to help us. They arrived within half an hour. The emergency team asked us whether Elizabeth had a cell phone with her. Fortunaly she had it and the emergency team could find her with the help of the cell phone`s signal. At the time we found her, she was almost frozen and the emergency took us immediately back to the hotel.

            In the evening we realized what a big disaster we had. Luckily no one died. We were all happy to be alive. Maybe it was a lesson to us and we learned that a very little mistake could cause big troubles. I don`t think that we will be psychological able to ski in the next few years. Even today, I have nightmares about that incident and cannot forget it.

         POLLUTION CAUSES AND EFFECTS                                

AIR

Cause: Factories and cars let out fumes and chemicals in smoke polluting the air.

Effect: Pollutants in the air make it hard for people to breathe causing lung disease. When it                    rains the chemicals in the air cause acid rain hurting the animals and plants.

LAND

Cause: People throw litter on the ground. Many people don't recycle and throw away so much garbage that we have landfills growing in our cities.

Effect: Many animals eat the litter and become sick and can die.  Litter lying around covers the land from the sun and the grass and plants can die.

WATER

Cause: Many companies dump their toxic waste in many rivers and lakes.   Ships spill oil in oceans and rivers. People throw litter in water.

Effect: Toxic waste and oil spills cause many animals and plants to die.  Litter also is eaten by animals or they get caught in the litter like six pack plastics causing the animals death. 

COMING DISASTER

Pollution is a major problem all around the world. It has adversely affected the lives of millions of people and caused many deaths and health disorders. Pollution is created by a chemical or other agent that renders part of the environment unfit for intended or desired use. And the environment also refers to the place where you live. Natural processes have released toxic chemicals into the environment throughout the history of the earth. Currently, the pollution generated by human activities presents the most serious problem. Also my hometown, Izmir, gives much harm to environment, too. It has many causes and effects.

Air pollution is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air. Car emissions, chemicals from factories, dust and pollen and mold spores may be suspended as particles. Ozone, a gas, is a major part of air pollution in cities. When ozone forms air pollution, it's also called smog. Some air pollutants are poisonous. While breathing them can increase the chance you'll have health problems. People with heart or lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk from air pollution. Air pollution isn't just outside – the air inside buildings can also be polluted and affect your health.

            Harmful chemical pollution and excess nutrient runoff remain top concerns for environmental and land managers in coastal areas. In addition to nutrient pollution, land-based discharges from industrial, urban, and agricultural commerce also generate real concerns. Land-based discharges include chemical contaminants like trace metals, pesticides, and pharmaceutical agents, as well as biological contaminants like bacteria, viruses, and protozoan. These contaminants can degrade surface waters, sediments, and other components of coastal habitats, and can pose risks to human health and natural resources. Many animals eat the litter and become sick and can die.  Litter lying around covers the land from the sun and the grass and plants can die.

            We all need clean water. People need it to grow crops and to operate factories, and for drinking and recreation. Fish and wildlife depend on it to survive. Many different pollutants can harm our rivers, streams, lakes and oceans. The three most common are soil, nutrients and bacteria. Rain washes soil into streams and rivers. The soil can kill tiny animals and fish eggs. It can clog the gills of fish and block light so plants die. Nutrients, often from fertilizers, cause problems in lakes, ponds and reservoirs. Nitrogen and phosphorus make algae grow and can turn water green. Bacteria, often from sewage spills, can pollute fresh or salt water.
            In conclusion after all this effects and causes, it is high time that we need to take care of problems of pollution seriously, or it could have effects on our future generations. There are many things to do in Izmir to improve these effects.

   I Want a Husband

            I belong to that classification of people known as wives. I am a wife and I want to have my dreaming perfect husband.

             I want a husband who support my economical independent and let me go to school. While I am going to school, he takes care of my children. I want a husband who cooks the meals and keeps house clean when I come back home from school. I want a husband that always helps me at the housework and also helps me cooking. I want a husband who is a good cook.

            I want a husband who let me do whatever I want to. He can’t keep me away my wishes. I want a husband who doesn’t bother me with rambling complaints. He has to do with me whatever it is, also. We should be the same. We should get the same taste what we do.  I want a husband who thinks as my way. We shouldn’t separate.

            I want a husband to take care of my children when they are sick. I want a husband who is a good nurturing attendant to my children. He should give his attention to children and care their needs. I want a husband to arrange for their schooling. I want a husband to pick up my children after picking me up too. My husband should arrange and pay for the care of the children while I am out or working. My children can be trust their father. I want a husband who stands strong all the time and make children’s wishes. He can’t pay less attention to my children.

            I want a husband who cares of me when I am sick. I want a husband who is sensitive to my feelings. He should always care me and my wishes. He must do whatever I want as he can. I want a husband who gives me his attention all the time. He shouldn’t give me away because of his works. I want a husband to call me sometimes if there is something that I want. I want a husband who always makes me surprises and make me shocked. He should buy gifts and make me feel happy.

            I want a husband who is hard-working. He has to earn lots of money. So, he can buy whatever I want. I don’t need to earn much money. I can spend it as the way I want. It doesn’t my problem that he has to work hard. I want to live my live. I can go to trip with my friends as I want and he should look after our children.  

I want a husband who can do everything without my help and always support and help me. I want a husband who loves me forever. Can I find a husband as my wishes?

WORLD IS CHANGING

The world is developing so fast day by day. So the desires of people are changing. Needless to say that desires of people damage world.

We pollute air, water and soil. We damage nature as a result of this nature damages us.

We pollute air with gases from factories, using spray bottles, using fossil fuels, nuclear energy. These are the some of the factors that pollutes air. Air pollution can cause health problems such as asthma, some kind of cancer and infections. And also these diseases can cause one’s death.

We pollute water with toxics, dirty water which flows into the rivers, leaving sewage to sea or rivers. These things sometimes mix with water which we drink in our homes. So we can be affected and ill. For example; in some countries farmers use the rivers as source of water. Think that if a farmer uses this source, his crops are affected by it. They have a danger for people who buy these crops. Because these crops are not healthy, they can be reason of a person’s death.

We pollute soil by using fertilizer, burning crops on the fields or other things. Polluting soil is very bad thing because all of humans’ food grows on it. So damaging it means damaging us.

We have respect to the world as a result of this nature can respect us. Whatever we give to nature it gives us back double.

THE STUDENTS(OKAN)

THE STUDENTS

            Being a student is one of the hardest job in the world. Today many students travel another city or country to have education. There are some students are lucky because they go schools and universities in their hometowns. So we can divide to students two groups as residents and nonresidents.

            Resident students are lucky because they are in their hometown and always together with their family and friends. They don’t have difficulties. Because their clothes are washed, ironed or in the morning their breakfast are usually ready for them. They can focus on their courses well. As, they don’t have to struggle with other things. They know places where they can go, cheap and qualified. There is one thing that they are not lucky. They always stay in same city.

            Nonresident students are not usually lucky because they come a new city and they have to adapt it. Some of them stay in dormitory. Others stay at home. There are some matters staying in dormitory such as rooms are for 4-6 person, they have to same wc. And sometimes they can’t get on with each other. There are some matters staying at home as well. Such as doing shopping, cooking, washing, making arrangement himself, ironing etc. they are lucky because they learn new places, learn the place’s culture and other things.
     So students have some difficulties even if they are residents or nonresidents.

I WANT A HUSBAND

  Why do I want a husband ?  I want a husband because I need a person with whom I want to share my life and also my feelings.

  I want a husband who will understand my wishes. And sometimes my husband can make some surprises.I want a husband who can support me financily when I’m unployment or in other situations.I want a husband who will always back up me even if I’m not right.

  I want a husband who won’t do any house-work.But sometimes my husband can do some housework aswell. Yet this must be with his wish, I don’t have to say anything to do it.Briefly he should do it voluntarily.

  I want a husband who will take care our children.Because I work and do housework, so I don’t have enough time. A husband pick our children up from their school, social actitivities such as basketball, football etc.Or  A husband take our children to a place whre they want to go. If  I do housework and work, my husband should do other things.

  I want a husband who will make some arrengements for us. Because I like going out at nights. And also I like going cinem, theatre or having a romantic night.

DUST STORM(OKAN)

DUST STORM

Everything started with archaeological curiosity. We went to Egypt with Archaeology club.

We were so excited to see the historical city but we were disappointed because the city was

dirty, poor and ruined. There was no traffic rule and traffic light and the cars were so old that

they were belong to 1970s.And there was so noisy and there was no malls or shopping centers

just little markets.

    The hotel where we stayed was in bad condition compare to Turkish hotels. We landed in

there day tame there was nobody in city. Because of the deserts high temperature people sleep

all day and were awake at night.

    After resting for a while in the hotel we went to Pyramids with our guide. He gave us

interesting information about pyramids and the most important thing which attracted us was

the turning into the yoghurt in two days inside the pyramid.

    Afterwards we saw a lot of camel. When we asked to people who were there, they said that

there was a camel competition. We decided to attend it. Reading a camel was very enjoyable

and interesting. Although we were untrained, we won the competition, as a price, we won a

free jeep safari.

    In the early morning we set off with our jeep. Everything was on the way until the mind

started. But anyway we kept on our trip after awhile it became stronger and changed into

horrible dust storm. Our visibility was limited highly and we hardly could breath and see. In

order not to got lost we hugged with each other. After one or two hours later we found

ourselves in add place.

    There were hieroglyphics, mummies and strange tombs. At first we didn’t check out what

they were after a while we realized that it was the hidden city! We found the hidden city

which our friends who study archaeology searched for. Dust storm effected us but we

discovered a important thing. It was full at energy and enjoy full

BIG COMPANIES(OKAN)

BIG CORPORATIONS

           

            In our world, today, there are many big companies that gain a lot of from the public. To show their good side to public, they donate money to some charaties or they give their corporations’ name to an organization.

            Some of the corporations do such things really thinking to help but others only want to be more popular. I think if a corporation wants to help anything, it can be done silently. For instance; in my hometown there is a club which is combined by rich people who have big companies. They supply necessary items for students with the help of municipality. So their names are kept. Because, they don’t want to be popular. Their aim is clear. But some corporations do this in front of the media. Of course they help someone but why it is done in front of media. Or big corporations do this help to have tax break. In many countries, there is a law that if a company support an organization financially they don’t have to pay tax that how much the corporation give. And also doing this job in front of media, they want to attract the people to come and buy some items from them. For example, in my country people are sensitive to help the poor. When they see something like this they go there and buy something from them so that they can help the poor.

            If the main purpose is helping to the poor, it must be done silently.

ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE(OKAN)

ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

     Alternative medicine is a way of recovering by using natural herbs. We can call it as nonconventional medicine.

     Nonconventional medicine must be second choice for a patient. Because in nonconvetional medicine  there aren’t enough data and reasons aren’t  usually known for the disease. And this should be used as a supporter of conventional medicine with the allowance of doctor.

      Sometimes since lack of data and other things people can suffer a lot of pain. And also it sometimes even can cause the death of people.

     Why do people believe or choose this way? What are the reasons? The reasons can be social and cultural or pyschological. Social and  cultural reasons are suchs as low level of understanding of science, increasing amount of opposite science or disliking biomedical methods.Pyshcological reasons are such as believing desire, assimilating to the community and prejudices to conventional medicine.

     As a result it can be used but not always.

I told her to be quite lest there could be another avalanche. After calming her down, I looked around and the all the snow around us was smooth as if nothing had happened. We found the glove of Jack while looking for the others. We ran towards it and started to dig around the place the glove was laying. Actually he was laying there. I saw his hand, which was almost frozen. We got him out of there with hard work. As the guide told us before, we rubbed his body with snow. Slowly he regained consciousness, but he trembled. Helen stayed with him and I looked for Elizabeth. But there was no help, I couldn`t find her. So I called the emergency  to help us. They arrived within half an hour. The emergency team asked us whether Elizabeth had a cell phone with her. Fortunaly she had it and the emergency team could find her with the help of the cell phone`s signal. At the time we found her, she was almost frozen and the emergency took us immediately back to the hotel.

            In the evening we realized what a big disaster we had. Luckily no one died. We were all happy to be alive. Maybe it was a lesson to us and we learned that a very little mistake could cause big troubles. I don`t think that we will be psychological able to ski in the next few years. Even today, I have nightmares about that incident and cannot forget it.
